Overcoming the Challenges of Simulating Phased-Array Radar Systems

چکیده

operations, as well as to achieve higher resolution and better detection performance. Despite these enviable benefits, when developing phased-array radar many issues may be encountered. For modern engineers, that often means a myriad of test challenges, not the least of which is finding a way to improve performance while also reducing the high cost associated with Transmit/Receive (T/R) modules with Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDSs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs). Also of concern to the engineer is finding a way to work effectively with the entire development team—the system architect, the RF team and the signal processing team. Additionally, calibration of the T/R module can be difficult, not to mention time consuming and expensive. Addressing these challenges demands an appropriate method of designing and testing phased-array radar systems; one that streamlines the R&D lifecycle so that faster, cheaper, better phased-array radar systems can be achieved. Performance of Target Detection in Phased-MIMO Radars

In this paper, the problem of target detection in phased-MIMO radars is considered and target detection performance of phased-MIMO radars is compared with MIMO and phased-array radars. Phased-MIMO radars combine advantages of the MIMO and phased-array radars. In these radars, the transmit array will be partitioned into a number of subarrays that are allowed to overlap and each subarray transmit...

Phased Array: a Special Case of Mimo Systems

Phased array systems, a special case of MIMO systems, take advantage of spatial directivity and array gain to increase spectral efficiency. Implementing a phased array system at high frequency in a commercial silicon process technology presents several challenges. This article focuses on the architectural and circuit-level trade-offs involved in the design of the first silicon-based fully integ...

Design and Performance of a Miniature Radar L-Band Transceiver

Radar electronics developed for past JPL space missions historically had been custom designed and as such, given budgetary, time, and risk constraints, had not been optimized for maximum flexibility or miniaturization. To help reduce cost and risk of future radar missions, a “generic” radar module was conceived. The module includes a 1.25-GHz (L-band) transceiver and incorporates miniature high...

Reconfigurable Digital multiple beam forming with planar phased array RADAR on FPGA

Beam forming is a signal processing technique used in antenna arrays for directional signal transmission or reception. Phased array radar is very important in modern radar development, and multiple digital beams forming technology is the most significant technology in phased array radar. Digital multiple beam forming on each antenna element about large phased array radar is impossible in proces...

تحلیل و طراحی تغییر دهنده فاز N - بیتی MEMS توزیع شده در باند Ka

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...
